The Young Women’s Council was included in the YWCA Australia Constitution as a demonstration of our organisation’s commitment to young women’s leadership and development.

We received a huge number of outstanding applications from passionate and dedicated young women from all around Australia. The response to our first ever Young Women’s Council has been overwhelming, and we’re inspired by the drive and commitment demonstrated by young advocates.

Young Women’s Council members were elected by the members via an online ballot which was open between 1st November and 19th November.

Young people from all over Australia representing voices across our incredible and diverse communities applied and we were overwhelmed by over 114 applications.

The council is made up of young women between the ages of 12 to 29 years old, with representation from every State and Territory in Australia as well as strong representation from a number of diverse communities of young women.
