The Australian Government has announced it is scrapping the low income super contribution (LISC), a Government superannuation payment of up to $500 each financial year to help low-income earners save for their retirement. The LISC is available to people earning 37,000 or less a year. YWCA Australia is disappointed with this move, which will have a disproportionate impact on women who generally have lower wages, lower workforce participation and generate less superannuation over their lifetime than men.
