The YWCA has been running employment and training programs and services for women since its early days.

These crucial programs and services change lives by building work skills and helping people to find meaningful jobs.

A snapshot of Australian YWCA employment and training programs and services:

Get Set for Work, YWCA Downs & South West Queensland

This program is mainly for young school leavers (aged 15-17) in the Toowoomba area and those ‘at risk’ of leaving mainstream education before completing Year 12. The program helps participants learn new skills to get a job. The program is a mix of accredited training, work experience and life skills tailored to each participant's situation.

The program helps build self-esteem and confidence, provides accredited training in areas like business, retail, hospitality and community services, mechanics, construction, child care, and manufacturing. Participants also have access to a youth worker, complete first aid certificates and receive job search support.
