What an opportunity to explore, learn, share and make a real difference not only in the lives of Solomon Island women, but also in your own life.  A year will never be enough! YOU can support women to take up leading roles in the Solomon Island communities, both within the YWCA and the greater community. YOU can provide a safe space for young women to learn about and practice leadership and initiate community projects. Take a closer look at this soul-treasure and see yourself reflected in the riches.

As Program Advisor you will continue the work of the previous excellent volunteer in strengthening YWCA Munda’s governance, financial management, and various community projects. These include a community based women’s literacy project, erecting a community market house, and working with the local hospital on increasing adolescent access to sexual and reproductive health. You’ll also have the opportunity to work with host country nationals to develop, design and implement new projects that increase the involvement of young women in the organisation, leadership and the projects of YWCA Munda. YWCA Australia will assist and support you as necessary by facilitating training and programs.

This opportunity is available through the Australian Volunteers for International Development Program, their website is www.volunteering.austraining.com.au. Applications are due by 25 January 2012.
