WomenSpeak supports its members to develop projects in line with the network's priorities

This support has been both financial from WomenSpeak, and in-kind in terms of WomenSpeak secretariat and member organisations collaborating to support each other’s work.

Since 2002, WomenSpeak has supported members in the following projects:

  • Developing training materials on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and its application in policy advocacy and service delivery in a domestic context.
  • Supporting the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom in developing a website and educational materials on Security Council Resolution 1325 – Women, Peace and Security.
  • Supporting Working Against Sexual Harassment to undertake research work with women who had made complaints of sexual harassment to better understand  the outcomes and ramifications of these complaints.
  • Assisting members with training for young women on topics such as topics such as policy development, fundraising and program development.
  • Investigating the co-payment burden for out-patient termination of pregnancy services.
  • Supporting the development of a National Network for Migrant and Refugee Women.
  • Supporting the development of a National Network of Aboriginal Women
  • Creating and publishing the booklet Why Young Women Get Involved and Stay Involved: A Handbook for Community Organisations on how to Engage Young Women
  • Supporting International Women’s Development Agency to host a Symposium on Gender Indicators in the Development Sector.
  • Supporting Australian Reproductive Health Alliance Young Women’s Gathering to discuss issues in sexual and reproductive health and sexual reproductive rights.
  • Hosting training and gatherings for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young women to identify policy priorities relevant to them and support and encourage their participation in the policy process
