Week Without Violence

14-20 October 2007

What is the Week Without Violence?

No matter where we live, violence and fear have become part of our everyday lives. The Week Without Violence is a global effort, organised by the YWCA, to unite all people against the violence that exists in our communities. The Week Without Violence encourages all of us to identify realistic and sustainable alternatives to violence that create safer places to live, work and play.

Violence in all its forms undermines our quality of life. Because violence reaches into our cities and towns, our schools, our homes, our leisure activities and our work places, it affects all of us. To change this we need to take action against violence - to speak out against it and to change the values and attitudes that affect violence. On this web site you will find resources, information and links to support action against violence.

Imagine a week of open minds instead of closed fists.

Now image a lifetime. Let's make it a reality!
