“Hard won, but not done: Celebrating 125 years of Women’s Suffrage in South Australia”

It’s been 125 years since women in SA were granted the right to vote and stand for parliament. To celebrate, YWCA Australia invites you to join us for an evening of thought-provoking discussion, reflecting on our wins, and what work is still to be done to achieve women’s political and social empowerment.

What are the major achievements of women’s political participation over the years? How did young women play a role in the suffrage movement? What are the achievements and aspirations of young women today? How can we make voting and citizenship a more inclusive, diverse space for women, young women and girls?

These are the questions we’ll be asking our inspiring panel of young women trailblazers at this dynamic youth-led event.

Join us in the iconic surrounds of Ayers House as we celebrate our past and present and envision our future. The event is kindly hosted by The Hon Michelle Lensink MLC, Minister for Human Services, and The Hon Katrine Hildyard MP, Shadow Minister for the Status of Women. The design of this event has been led by YWCA young women in South Australia.
