The Future Is Accessible

Y Connect Project invites you to “The Future Is Accessible”, an evening of discussion & celebration in recognition of IDPWD

This International Day of People with Disability, join us in the rooftop bar of Sparkke at the Whitmore to hear from our powerful and passionate panel of women living with disability on their vision for an accessible future.

Panelists

Eloise Dibden is a young person living with cerebral palsy. She is currently finishing her Bachelor of Law & International Development at the University of Adelaide. Throughout her studies and entry into the workforce, she has faced many accessibility issues. Her hopes for the future are to utilise her legal skills to help others, and be an advocate for disability issues. She also wants to share her experiences in the hopes that it can help others, especially in becoming their own self advocate.

Chantel Bongiovanni is a woman with disability and a Powerchair sport athlete. Chantel is currently completing a PhD at the University of South Australia where her research is focused on understanding experiences of inclusion for people living with disability within education. She participates in a range of advocacy activities in her community, and is passionate about people with disability living better lives through access and inclusion.

Ellen Fraser-Barbour is a young disability and human rights advocate who has an interest in preventing harm and discrimination and improving social justice, peer support and solidarity. She is currently doing a PhD in Disability studies at Flinders University and is a member of the Health Performance Council working on a project on people with disability accessing the healthcare system. Prior to this she worked in a range of different roles across the disability sector.

Doors open at 5:30 for a 6pm start. The panel will conclude at 7:30 but we invite you to stay for a drink and a catch-up as part of the celebration. nibbles and non-alcoholic beverages provided. There will be a cash bar for all other beverages.

Everyone is welcome. This is a free community event for those who identify as living with disability. We encourage allies to attend – the small cost of your ticket price helps deliver this event.

Sparkke at the Whitmore is proudly an accessible venue. This event will be on the rooftop which is upstairs, there is an elevator and an accessible and ambulant toilet . The event will be Auslan interpreted.
