Y Connect Ally Training

January 29, 2020 @ 5:30 pm 7:00 pm

A safe & welcoming environment for socially minded women to learn about issues that impact the disability community and how to be an ally.

Developed and delivered by a woman living with disability, this session is conversational and informative for those that are aware of the intersectional discrimination that the disability community faces and are looking for ways to be an ally.

It invites you to think critically about the impact of language and actions and how the way we think and speak can influence our actions and subsequently, societal norms.

We offer simple and practical ways for you to support the community in your personal and professional life.

Following this ally training we invite people to join the Y Connect Project’s ally community and support our efforts to turn the table on unemployment and underemployment of women with disability.

Through sharing your experience, connections and taking positive steps within your own sphere of professional influence you can support members of Y Connect who are seeking opportunities to expand their career pathway and take on new opportunities.

Our allies get involved in various ways including; networking, providing one to one or adhoc mentoring or sharing their skills through structured professional development workshops.

The Y Connect Project is funded by the National Disability Insurance Agency.

Refreshments will be served.

YWCA Australia’s Adelaide office is an accessible building with a ramped entrance and an accessible bathroom.
