Do you know your Facechats from your Instasnaps?

Then you might be the person we’re looking for!

We’re currently recruiting for a Social Media Engagement Intern, to join our Communications team for six months. This internship is a great opportunity for those undertaking tertiary studies and seeking work experience.

The Social Media Engagement Intern will bring a ‘youth lens’ to our social media content and actively work with our Senior Manager, Communications to create engaging content to grow our audiences across Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Youtube and Instagram. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of current social media trends and an ability to not just be a part of the zeitgeist, but to lead it too.

The internship is expected to average five hours a week for six months. There is a total stipend of $3,500 attached to this internship for the full six months, which will be invoiced by the candidate as an independent contractor. (We can help you set this up if you don’t already have an ABN!)

So what will the intern be doing?

They’ll be creating, with guidance from YWCA, shareable social media content across different channels with YWCA branding, tone of voice and values. Examples include:

  • Activism / advocacy imagery for Instagram
  • Feminist meme content for Insta-stories
  • Short policy explainer videos for Youtube and Facebook
  • GIFs and profile photo frames

The person will also be really passionate about growing social media presence on other channels, and will recommend and lead social media approaches to new channels that we don’t currently use, like TikTok.

We might also ask you to help with other social media tasks – like reporting on our following, reach, and other success measures.

That sounds awesome! How can I apply?

First things first – make sure you’re signed up as a YWCA member. Membership is free!

Then, jump onto our job board here, make sure you read the ad and the position description, and then fill out the application form.

We do ask questions on the application form about any previous experience you have with social media, so please be prepared to either share your social media handles, or any other previous experience in a portfolio.

We’re happy to answer questions!

Our Senior Manager, Communications can answer any questions you might have. Email preferred – contact amanda.chan@ywca.org.au.
