Teaching young people about safe and respectful relationships is key to preventing violence in relationships in their futures. Respect Communicate Choose is an evidence-based program designed to give young people aged 10-12 years old the tools and support to have positive relationships throughout their lives.
The program aims to stop violence before it occurs through age-appropriate activities that they can use at school, at home and beyond. Topics covered include:
- challenging attitudes that are based on gender inequality
- building knowledge and ability to develop respectful relationships
- encouraging them to think about the consequences of their behaviour, and
- empowering them to become active advocates for violence prevention.
Respect Communicate Choose is delivered in partnership with schools and community groups.
YWCA Australia is proud to partner with Anglicare SA’s Communities for Children Onkaparinga to offer the Respect Communicate Choose program to schools in the funded region. Communities for Children activities are funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services.
Respect Communicate Choose was developed by YWCA Canberra.
