YWCA’s Australian sector-first model called the Women’s Housing Framework identifies best practice approaches to designing, acquiring, and operating housing for women. To support implementation of this framework in the built form, YWCA Australia has developed the Gender Responsive Design Guidelines in consultation with Dr Samantha Donnelly, a UTS lecturer in the School of Interior Architecture, leading studios on sustainable and climate responsive practices for real-life projects that deliver social impact for vulnerable communities.
The guidelines describe key design and operational principles for social and affordable housing for women and are available for use by CHPs, Government agencies, peak bodies and property development professionals including architects, planners and builders.
