Demonstrated Selection Criteria

Life Member nominees must be proposed by a YWCA Australia Ordinary Member. Candidates will be assessed on a range of criteria, including the below.

  1. Ongoing and consistent demonstration and support of the mission and values of YWCA above and beyond the normal commitment of a member, volunteer, employee or contractor
  2. Ongoing and consistent commitment gender equality, including young women’s leadership
  3. Not all nominees will fit every criteria – applications can outline other details of involvement with YWCA, their community or other information to support the nomination.

Nomination of candidates for Life Member

YWCA Australia Members are encouraged to nominate potential Life Members based on the selection criteria. Nominations are accepted year-round and are submitted to the Company Secretary and considered by the YWCA Australia Nominations Committee annually in September. The Committee will recommend Life Members to the Board for approval.

Nominators will be notified of the outcome of deliberations before each year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in November.

The President of YWCA will award a maximum of two Life Memberships at the AGM each year.

How to Nominate

To nominate someone, members must go to the Life Member Nominations page and fill out the form. You will need to sign in to our Member Portal to access this.

Revocation

YWCA reserves the right to revoke the granting of Life Membership in extreme circumstances should the actions and behaviours of the relevant individual be deemed to be detrimental to YWCA and/or inconsistent with its mission and/or its values.

In the event of a proposed revocation of life membership, the Board will undertake an independent investigation and any decision must be unanimous.
