The Women’s Housing Support Program provides wrap around supports for residents at YWCA’s Lakehouse rooming house property to stabilise their tenancy and receive tailored support whilst working towards securing long-term housing.
The team can provide short-term assistance or ongoing support for up to 3 months at a time.
Together with the Community Housing Officer, we will work with residents to support them during their stay at the Lakehouse including supporting the move into longer term housing.
This program is funded by Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH).
Delivered in partnership with Housing All Australians and YWCA Housing, the Lakehouse is an innovative co-living facility, established as a ‘pop up’ in 2018 to repurpose a vacant aged care facility in South Melbourne.
The Lakehouse features shared communal spaces including a large kitchen, lounges, and outdoor space. The facility is well-situated near shopping precincts and frequent public transport.
Each room has its own ensuite facilities, small bar fridge, double bed and mattress, bedside side table, and lamp.
WHSP supports residents of the Lakehouse who want to work on long-term housing goals and do not have a housing support worker from another agency. We may also be able to help women 55+ in other YWCA rooming houses who wish to seek their own accommodation.
To find out about vacancies in our properties, please visit our Housing page.
Lakehouse residents can drop in at the Lakehouse office or ask your housing officer to refer you to the program. Staff are usually there Monday to Thursday with opening times displayed on the door.
Potential Lakehouse residents who would like to know more can email womenshousingsupportprogram@ywca.org.au or call the YWCA office on 03 8341 8700.
