YWCA’s Housing Support Program provides support to women 16 and over, and families currently experiencing or at risk of homelessness in the Greater Darwin region.

We can support you to access and maintain housing, build living skills, and provide referrals and advocacy to other services to achieve your individual goals and stabilise your housing situation.

The support we provide through our housing programs includes:

  • Access to medium-term transitional housing (up to 18 months)
  • Support to build life and home skills to assist with independent living
  • Advocacy and assistance with navigating and collaborating with other services
  • Referrals to legal, counselling, medical and other specialised support services.

Who can we help?

Our Housing Support Program can support women 16 years and over and families, who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness.
Alongside these requirements, you also must:

  • Have an income, Centrelink benefits or be eligible to receive Centrelink benefits
  • Be able to afford rental payments set at 30% of your income

How can I refer myself or someone else?

We accept referrals for women 16 years and over and families, who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness in Darwin and the greater Darwin region.

To refer to the program, please contact Central Intake Service on 1800 920 333.

Once a referral is received, a HSP case manager will contact the client (or referrer) to:

  1. Complete an intake and assessment process
  2. Assess safety, risk, and urgent needs
  3. Determine eligibility and the most suitable level of support

If a client does not meet the eligibility criteria, our team will provide alternative referral pathways to other services that can assist in meeting their housing or wellbeing needs.
