Quick Exit

YWCA’s Tenancy Sustainability Support Program (TSSP) is a place-based service that provides early intervention, crisis response, and prevention support to women or gender-diverse people with or without children in Darwin and the greater Darwin region.

Our goal is to help people remain safely housed by addressing the issues that threaten their tenancies before they escalate into homelessness. We recognise that stable housing is essential for wellbeing, safety, and connection, and we work holistically with individuals and families to strengthen their capacity to sustain long-term housing.

TSSP supports people living in social (public and community) housing, affordable housing, and private rental accommodation, as well as those transitioning from homelessness into longer-term tenancies. The program works in collaboration with other community services, housing providers, and government agencies to create coordinated, person-centred responses that lead to sustainable outcomes.

What we can do

The TSSP team provides specialised and flexible support tailored to each individual’s circumstances. We focus on addressing the factors that place a tenancy at risk.

Support may range from brief intervention (such as advice, information, or advocacy) to short- or medium-term case management depending on the person’s level of need.

Our case managers work in partnership with clients to:

  • Identify safety, risk, and support needs
  • Develop individualised tenancy plans and goals
  • Build practical skills to maintain stable housing
  • Strengthen connections to health, education, employment, and community supports
  • Address any barriers that threaten housing stability

How to Refer

We accept referrals for women or gender-diverse people with or without children who are at risk of losing their tenancy or who need support to stabilise a new one in Darwin and the greater Darwin region.

To refer to the program, please contact Central Intake Service on 1800 920 333.

Once a referral is received, a TSSP case manager will contact the client (or referrer) to:

  1. Complete an intake and assessment process
  2. Assess safety, risk, and urgent needs
  3. Determine eligibility and the most suitable level of support

If a client does not meet the eligibility criteria, our team will provide alternative referral pathways to other services that can assist in meeting their housing or wellbeing needs.

For any questions or to discuss a potential referral, please contact us on 08 7922 5547.
