YWCA’s Home Safe Program provides support to women and gender diverse people who are experiencing or have experienced domestic and family violence in the Greater Darwin region.

Everyone deserves to live a life free from violence. Whether you are thinking of leaving, have already left or are unsure of what you want to do, we can help.

Home Safe offers safe and affordable transitional housing pathways, so all women of all ages have the right to safe and secure accommodation.

What support can we provide?

Transitional Housing – Community Housing

We offer three secure properties two 2‑bedroom homes and one 3‑bedroom home, designed to support you while you rebuild and plan for the future. Housing is available for up to two years, with tailored case management provided throughout your stay.

How We Support You

  • Specialist domestic and family violence case management
  • Secure homes with safety features to help protect you and your family
  • Reduced rent, calculated as a percentage of your income
  • Personalised safety planning
  • Education and information to help you understand domestic and family violence
  • Advocacy and practical support, including help navigating services and systems
  • Referrals to legal, counselling, and other specialist support services

How to REfer

 

We accept referrals for women or gender-diverse people with or without children in their care who have experienced, currently experiencing or at-risk of family and domestic violence. 

To refer to the program, please contact Central Intake Service on 1800 920 333. If you are unsure if this program is right for you or want to know more please reach out to us on (08) 8932 9155 and ask for a HomeSafe Case Manager.

Once a referral is received, a case manager will contact the client (or referrer) to:

  1. Have an initial conversation about the program and eligibility
  2. Assess safety, risk, and urgent needs
  3. Place on the waitlist or if there is vacancy allocate a case manager

If a client does not meet the eligibility criteria, our team will provide alternative referral pathways to other services that can assist in meeting their housing or wellbeing needs.
