We are thrilled to announce that YWCA Australia’s Adelaide Affordable Housing Development has been selected as a finalist for The Urban Developer’s Industry Excellence Awards, Development of the Year – Social Infrastructure category!
We are so proud of this development dedicated to providing stable, affordable, long-term rental homes for women-led families, and are happy to see its excellence recognised by becoming a finalist in the prestigious Urban Developer Awards.
The apartments are available below market rent to people who are priced out of the private rental market and will be home for up to 57 residents, prioritising women and their families, to feel safe, secure and able to rebuild their lives.
South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas officially unveiled the development in March – the first of its kind opened in Adelaide and the first built in the state by YWCA Australia.
Designed by Tridente Boyce and constructed by Tandem Building, the development includes 24, one, two and three-bedroom apartments built over seven storeys in a prime CBD location, with a shared alfresco space overlooking Adelaide’s spectacular parklands and hills.
More than just housing, the development represents YWCA Australia’s commitment to ensuring women and gender-diverse people have access to homes designed for their unique needs, as part of its $100million investment in gender-responsive housing.
The development was also unique in having an all-women crew team on the project – the Principal, Superintendant, Project Director, Contract Administrator and Construction lead across four different companies were all women, making this project one that was created ground up by women, for women.
There are still homes left in this amazing complex so visit the property page to apply.
