In February, YWCA Australia officially received handover from the South Australian Housing Trust (SAHT) of Tucker St Studios, a brand new a six-storey development featuring 50 modern, self-contained studio apartments. Tucker St Studios directly neighbours YWCA’s existing Adelaide Affordable Housing property.
Tucker St Studios is first and foremost, an incredible opportunity to house and support 50 women and their families from the SA Single Housing Register (Social Housing) in partnership with SAHT. It also marks an important step in YWCA Australia’s journey as a national leader in gender responsive and community focussed housing. It is also a testament to the reputation our team members have built and are continuing to build both in the sector but also now in South Australia.
YWCA Australia’s role will be to deliver integrated housing and support services to residents of Tucker St Studios. YWCA manages tenancy activities including allocations, settlement, community engagement, coordination of maintenance works, whilst also offering one-to-one case management support for residents on an opt-in basis. SAHT is responsible for rent collection and maintenance works.
Our team members have worked closely with SAHT to finalise the partnership and ensured the integrated service model was ready for day one with residents already moved in.
