YWCA Australia is proud to be establishing a new Lived Experience Advisory Group (LEAG) designed to elevate the voices, perspectives, and expertise of people with lived experience of homelessness across the Northern Territory (NT).
As a national leader in gender responsive housing and solutions, YWCA Australia will lead the development and delivery of the LEAG in close partnership with Anglicare NT.
By placing lived experience leadership at the centre of this work, YWCA Australia and Anglicare NT aim to help build homelessness systems that are more responsive, accessible, and effective for the people they serve. This initiative strengthens our ongoing work to ensure that policies, programs, and services are shaped by the people who use them.
The LEAG will bring together a diverse group of Territorians with direct experience of homelessness. Members will contribute their insights to help shape and guide system reforms, ensuring that homelessness responses better reflect the realities, strengths, and needs of communities across the NT. In recognition of the expertise members will bring, they will be paid for their time, provided with training and skill building opportunities and supported to advocate for systems change in the NT.
Recruitment for the LEAG is expected to begin later in 2026, with more information to be released closer to the date. Keep an eye out on YWCA Australia’s socials to stay up to date.
This initiative forms part of the Northern Territory Homelessness Strategy 2025–2030 and is funded by the NT Government.
