YWCA Australia hosts the Equality Rights Alliance (ERA), Australia’s largest network advocating for women’s equality, leadership, and recognition of women’s diversity. ERA brings together 64 non-government organisations and social enterprises with an interest in advancing women’s equality and is funded by the Commonwealth Government’s Office for Women.
In 2017-18, ERA advocated for affordable housing for women and the consideration of government budgets through a gender lens. They pushed for the reintroduction of a time-use survey by the Australian Bureau of Statistics and for the domestic implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
ERA led the sector’s engagement with Australia’s appearance before the CEDAW Committee and co-led the NWAs’ attendance at the 63rd meeting of the Commission on the Status of Women. See more about our global advocacy and international engagement.
